Connacht will stage the Irish National Road Time Trial Championships on June 28. The event will see Irish athletes compete against each other for points on the UCI calendar as per UCI technical regulations. The championship is to be run over the following 7 main events:

National Junior Women TT Championships
National Tandem & Paracycling Tandem TT Championships
National Paracycling C1-C5 Championships

2018 Para-cycling Road World Cup Chronicle – Ostend

The Belgium city of Ostend will host the first stage of the 2018 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup Chronicle from May 03-06. Over 400 athletes from 38 countries will compete in one of the most important competitions after the World Championship & the Paralympic Games. Points for the overall nations’ rankings are distributed and count towards the Paralympic Games to be held in Tokyo 2020.

The Irish Para-cycling Team will be competing with 11 athletes across 6 events. Best of luck to the athletes competing; Chris Burns, Colin Lynch, Ronan Grimes, Declan Slevin and Seamus Wall in the solo competition, Katie-George Dunlevy & Eve McCrystal, Martin Gordon & Eamonn Byrne, Damien Vereker & Dermot Radford and Peter Ryan & Séan Hahessy in the tandem competition. With 53 medal events over 4 days of competition, it’s sure to be an exciting sporting weekend!

 

2018 Para-Cycling Track World Championships

The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro will stage the 2018 UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships. The event will take place from March 22-25 in the Rio Olympic Velodrome, the track cycling venue from the 2016 Paralympic Games. Athletes from over 30 countries will compete in of the most important competition of the season, the first championship to take into account points for the ranking that will select the Tokyo Paralympic Games athletes.

The Irish Para-cycling Team consists of three tandems and two solo bikes competing across fourteen championship events. Best of luck to the athletes competing; Colin Lynch and Ronan Grimes in the solo competition, Katie-George Dunlevy & Eve McCrystal, Martin Gordon & Eamonn Byrne, and Peter Ryan & Séan Hahessy in the tandem competition.

UCI 2017 Para-cycling Road World Championships

The Irish Para-cycling Team will be competing in the UCI 2017 Para-cycling Road World Championships in Pietermartizburg, South Africa from the 31st August to the 3rd September. This year there will be thirteen Irish athletes competing across twenty-one championship events. Following on from the excellent results and efforts of the Irish team in the 2016 season this will be the largest team to compete in a World Championships in recent years.
